What makes the Montessori approach so effective is that it is based on a deep understanding of how children learn and develop through making their own choices, trying things out and doing things for themselves.

At Fledglings Montessori Preschool we are fortunate to have access to woodland on our doorstep, which provides the setting for our Woodland Adventures sessions. These regular outdoor lessons allow children to learn through exploration, observation and hands-on experiences in nature. In the woodland environment children develop physical skills such as balance, coordination and strength, while also building confidence, independence and resilience. They observe seasonal changes, discover plants and insects, and use natural materials for creative play and problem solving. Time in the woodland supports children’s curiosity and concentration while helping them develop a respect and appreciation for the natural world.
